About City

Rome, the capital city of Italy and it is the fourth most populous city in European Union by population with 2,872,800 residents in 1.2 km2. Rome is located along the shores of Tiber in the central-western portion of the Italian Peninsula. It is been often defined as capital of two states because the Vatican City which the smallest country in the world is inside the city boundaries of Rome which makes it the only example of a country within a city. The city’s early population originated from a mix of Latins, Etruscans, and Sabines. The Roman poet Tibulus called it as The Eternal City. It is also called as “Caput Mundi” (Capital of the World). Famous artists, painters, sculptors and architects made Rome the centre of their activity.

Rome is considered as the world’s second most historically, educationally and culturally interesting and beautiful city according to the City Brands Index. The city with a status of global city which is popular tourist attraction in Italy is the 3rd most visited city in the European Union and 14th most visited city in the world. The UNESCO listed its historic centre as a World Heritage Site. With cool, humid winters and warm, dry summers Rome has a Mediterranean climate. As the international renowned brands centred in the city Rome is also centre of Fashion and Design. Colosseum, the largest amphitheatre ever built in the Roman Empire which one of the symbols of Rome which used for gladiatorial combat with originally capable of 60,000 spectators. Rome has one of the largest areas of green space among European capitals. The city is quite known for its statues especially the taking statues of the Rome. The city is a major international centre for higher education containing numerous academies, colleges and universities.
